British cinema chain Cineworld said it was banking on teen wizard Harry Potter to weave some 3D magic this autumn, after ticket sales slumped during the World Cup.
Steve Wiener, Cineworld's chief executive, said British gross box office takings were down 30% for the month of the tournament, compared with the near-10% uplifts enjoyed by the industry in May and July.

The makers of the Harry Potter movies are reportedly suing a Swiss prophylactic company over its 'Harry Popper' branded condoms.
According to newspaper Bote , Warner Bros is taking legal action against the company, claiming that they are breaching copyright.
The package artwork for the 'Harry Popper' brand shows a purple, glasses-wearing condom twirling a wand with its tongue extended.

From the Gamescome video-gaming conference in Cologne, Germany, we've got two new videos for Xbox 360 games.
First up is a new trailer for "Halo: Reach," profiling the Noble Team. The next "Halo" installment (and the last to be produced by Kirkland's Bungie -- the franchise is going to Microsoft's new 343 Industries ) is scheduled to launch Sept. 14.
Second is the video announcement for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1," which is coming in November for Kinect on Xbox 360.

This time they're joined by Prison Break star Wentworth Miller as Claire's brother, Chris Redfield, who they must break out of a Los Angeles prison with the city overrun by zombies.
Resident Evil: Afterlife is again directed by Paul W. S. Anderson but it's the first in the series to also be released in 3D and for IMAX-3D theatres.
